Your SEO-wrong Wordpress Blog

How SEO-friendly is your Wordpress blog?

If you are using Wordpress themes straight out of the box without any edits or tweaks, you are missing some important SEO opportunities.

These are outlined in a guest post at http://www.johnchow.com/how-to-seo-your-wordpress-theme and I do recommend you read the whole thing.

However, for busy skimmers (arent we all?), here are the highlights. Just enough info, I hope, to make you visit the site and read it all.

H1 tag. By default, most Wordpress themes get this wrong. There should only be one H1 tag per page - and that should include your primary keyphrase… the most important words you want the search engines to associate your site with.

H2 tags. View your blog’s source code (right click on any text, click on View Source) and see how many H2 tags you have. And where they are. The h2 tag should be used to markup your secondary keyphrases but odds are that is not what they are doing.

Keyword text links. You can add them in your footer.php and sidebar.php to increase the total volume of keyword-appropriate links pointing to your home page.

The writer, Courtney Tuttle, also includes valuable tips on eliminating duplicate content, along with solutions to all the above wrinkles.

Definitely worth reading - and acting on.

Now you know how to use blogs more effectively… if you are looking for another niche market to enter and are wondering what is the best way to find profitable niches and great product ideas, why not check out FindHotMarkets.com? It may be just what you need. Seeing as it costs nothing, the Silver Version is certainly exceptional value. For a little more money, you get a lot more value when you choose the Gold Version.
