History

The foundation for PrePaid legal Inc was laid in 1969 when Harland C.Stonecipher got into a vehicle accident that left him in a legal tangle with lots of bills to pay. He started a scheme to offer legal assistance for a small monthly fee. In 1983, PrePaid legal was established as an MLM company to sell its plans through associates. Soon the business expanded to reach fifty states in the US and Canada. There were also bad times when the firm ran into legal problems with affiliates and customers.
