Many people have taken up blogging as a hobby and as a way to express personal opinions. Most of these people do not realize they can make money blogging. There are several ways to convert a blogging hobby into a way to supplement income. If a talented writer can produce articles people want to read and share the money can be well worth the effort. The actual subject is not as important as the readability, but the subject should at least hold some interest to enough people to build a following.

The money from blogging can come from several sources. A blogger can build a large enough following to attract advertising revenue from sidebar ads or banners. Other advertisers will place links on a blog page and pay every time a visitor clicks on the link.

A blogger can use the popularity of his pages to promote his own products and services or to link to his retail sites.

There is more to making money with a blog than just posting a couple of interesting articles and cashing the checks that roll in. Using a blog to make money online requires letting people know the blog exists and that the content on the blog is worth a visit. First visitors must come to the site, and then they should be enticed to join the list of followers or click on the paying links on the blog pages (known as conversion in online business parlance).
