If you’re like me, you have got a lot of different applications installed on your computer and every few days something needs gets updated by the programmer/company who issued it in the first place.
But the only time you find out that your copy is out of date is when you open it to use it. Then you have to put up with a delay while you download & install the newer version.
Wouldnt it be great if there was a way to scan your entire machine to see what needs updating and get it all done at once?
Now there is - and it’s free.

FileHippo.com has a lightweight little “update checker” that scans your computer to identify what programs you are running then it checks if your version is the latest. If it’s not, a live link is provided so you can download the new version.
You can either run the Filehippo utility in your tray (down near your clock) all the time, or open this checker once a week or whenever you like.
I just used it for the first time last night and need to update about 13 programs. Some of it is stuff I rarely use and I probably should uninstall this un-used stuff. But the point is… without Filehippo’s Update Checker doing its inventory check last night, I wouldnt have known all this.
What I do is download the new versions to my desktop, run them and then delete the downloaded install files. That makes Filehippo happy.
Funny name, eh? — but terribly handy as a time saver. The Update Checker is a free download from the top right corner of their home page.
