If I had a dollar for every time I was presented with a work from home business that was going to be the next big thing well, I’m sure that you get the point. Have you ever stopped to to wonder why so many people jump from company to company trying to put themselves in the right place at the right time, only to do the same thing over again?

It’s very easy to get excited about a opportunity to work from home. Its a chance to forget about past failures and get caught up in all the hype about a fantastic new product, or comp plan, or whatever. When you really think about it, its not so much the business that people are interested in, its the excitement itself…people get hooked on it. When they lose that feeling of excitement with one company, they go searching for another to get that feeling back.

This is why the failure rate is so high in this industry. People are there for the emotions not the business. Often people end up getting caught in the “feel good” side of the industry and forget why they even got started in the first place. For most people they saw an opportunity to make some extra money from home. This is not to say that there are sometimes legitimate reasons to look for a new business. Sometimes there are. The problem is that when you make the move to a new type of business you take yourself with you.

If people are struggling in this business its not because of the products their company has, the comp plan they offer, or the marketing materials the company provides them with. The problem is that they do not know how to run a business properly. To have real success in this industry you need to stop jumping to new opportunities, it’s not the company that needs improving… it’s you. If you want to earn the level of income a professional marketer earns, become a professional. Period. If you are not willing to put in the effort to improve your self there is no business that will be able to save you
